Joseph Károlyi Foundation

European Cultural Meeting Center

The József Károlyi Foundation was established by the Károlyi family in 1994. The Károlyi Castle, Fehérvárcsurgó is the imposing home of the European Cultural Meeting Center, which is a member of the European network of "Cultural Meeting Centers" (www.accr-eu.org), thus ensuring a larger historical monument its rehabilitation and preservation, while using it as a venue for dynamic cultural programs of interest to the general public. In this way, the program both validates the restoration and ensures the permanence of these activities.

The activities of the József Károlyi Foundation include a European Documentation Center, the foundation of which is the Ferenc Fejtő Library and the Vajay Szabolcs Library. It was officially inaugurated on October 9, 2003 by Mr. Dominique de Combles de Nayves, Ambassador of France.

As a research center specializing in European history and international relations, the Documentation Center provides the special opportunity for research in the various fields of history, political science, sociology, genealogy and heraldry, making it a suitable center for Central European studies.
